The fastest way to stall a kitchen remodel is to order cabinets after demo. Custom and semi-custom lines run weeks out, and every trade behind them waits. We select and order cabinets during design, so the box that arrives on site is the one the layout was drawn around.
Sliding a sink, range, or refrigerator to the other side of a kitchen means new supply lines, new drain slope, and often new gas and electrical. On paper that is a conversation. After the floor is open it is a change order. We price relocation up front so you can decide whether the new layout is worth what it actually costs.
There is a gap between cabinet install and counter install, and it is not the crew running behind. Stone is templated off the cabinets actually in your kitchen, not off the drawing, because a quarter inch of drift ruins a seam. That window is in the written schedule from the start so it does not read like a delay.
Most run four to eight weeks on site depending on structural work, cabinet lead times, and inspections. Design and ordering happen before that window starts, which is why the schedule holds.
Not the room itself, but a temporary setup is planned before demo. A fridge, microwave, and sink relocated to a garage or dining room covers most families. That plan is part of the scope, not something figured out on day one.
Cosmetic work usually does not. Moving plumbing, adding circuits, relocating gas, or altering a wall does, and the requirements vary by city across the Metroplex. We pull what the job needs and schedule the inspections around the trades.
Cabinets, counters, and whether anything moves. Layout changes that relocate plumbing, gas, or load paths cost far more than finish upgrades. We quote those separately so you can see which part of the number is structure and which part is selection.
