A patio cover is a structural build, not a shade product

Anything attached to your house carries load and moves with it. Footings sized for the span, a proper ledger connection, and flashing that ties into the existing roof are what separate a cover that lasts from one that pulls away from the wall in five years. That work is invisible when it is done right.

Drainage decides how long any of it lasts

Most failed patios and outdoor kitchens in North Texas failed at the slab, not the finish. Water that sheets toward the house, a slab poured flat, or a cover that dumps runoff at the foundation will undo good work. Grade and drainage get solved before anything gets poured.

An outdoor kitchen is a utilities project with countertops on top

Gas line sizing, a dedicated circuit, water supply and drainage, and clearance around the grill are the real scope. The stone and the appliances are the easy part. Getting the rough-in right before the masonry goes up is what keeps it from being torn back open later.

    FAQ

    Questions We Get Asked

Do I need a permit for a patio cover or outdoor kitchen?

Usually yes for anything structural, attached, or involving gas and electrical, and the rules differ by city across the Metroplex. We confirm the requirement for your address before the scope is priced.

Can you attach a cover to my existing roofline?

In most cases, yes. It depends on the existing roof pitch, rafter direction, and how the tie-in can be flashed. We look at the attic and the roof structure before committing to an attached design rather than a freestanding one.

How long does an outdoor living build take?

Typically two to six weeks on site once permits are in hand, depending on concrete cure time, masonry, and whether utilities are being run for a kitchen or fireplace.

What holds up to Texas heat and storms?

Materials chosen for movement and UV rather than for the showroom. Stained cedar and steel both work when detailed correctly, and the fasteners, flashing, and finish schedule matter more than the material name.

Great experience working with Remodel Contracting on my kitchen. Jeff and team were always quick to respond with any questions or changes I had. They communicated with me daily on the progress or if there were going to be any delays. This team did a beautiful job remodeling our shower/closet/laundryroom after a flood. They even added a laundry pass through at my request which makes it simple to deposit our laundry from our bathroom right into the laundry room.
